A festival of two halves..
Firstly, it was fantastic to be repping Douglas and having some great chats over the weekend with like-minded folk. Shout-out to the crew from Trash Free Trails
We managed to get a bit of time to see some talks, and the highlights were the Graham Zimmerman session - his mountaineering skill is only matched by his climate advocacy, a fascinating couple of hours. Also up there was the WeTwo talk highlighting their work to empower underprivileged young people through life-changing adventures. Headed up by Phoebe Smith and Dwayne Fields they do some fantastic work. Finally, Trek Bicycle Bike Night showcased some amazing films and some incredible people doing work with bikes.
And secondly, it was a pleasure to be a part the team at Rider Resilience CIC 🚲 Helping out on Bike Night and at Basecamp on Sunday, spreading the word and raising money - thank you to all those who donated or bought raffle tickets and merch 🧢👕 Thanks to the host Jenny Graham for wearing the kit and a brilliant overview of RR on stage.
The festival showcased several great causes, but a real consistent theme was a shared belief in the numerous benefits of outdoor activities whether it be by bike, by boot or by boat.. amongst so many others. These activities serve as effective outlets for stress relief, aid in overcoming trauma, and ultimately allow individuals to gain a greater sense of purpose in life.
Kudos to all those at Kendal Mountain Festival for an incredible few days 👏
